Moral Issues

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

So, at my job there’s been rumors of the company taking money out of warehouse employees paychecks, to make up for losses in inventory. I found out today that the rumor is true, and they did it last paycheck. The thing is, the losses may be inaccurate, as noone is checking the numbers manually inputted when stock comes in. I don’t work in the warehouse, but that comes as no real consolation, what the company is doing is wrong and illegal. I’m not sure I’m totally comfortable working for a company that has no problems cheating its employees out of money.
Job listings are looking pretty grim though. There’s one job that looks pretty good, but I think it’s actually a scam. I’m starting to get frustrated, I know what direction I want to go in, but it looks like I’m going to have to stay here and deal with the distractions the company is making. They promised me they’d get me trained in graphics, but the courses they’re willing to pay for are a joke. They’re being consistantly shady with other employees, to the point that some people have quit and other people are considering leaving. I just need to get my shit straight and bounce up out of here. I am not looking to make a career here, I don’t trust them.

update and testing

Monday, February 18th, 2008

I got a blackberry, and I’m testing mobile blogging. Its not perfect, but its definitely more than usable.

I’ve been pretty busy being social now that things with the house have calmed somewhat. And, Saturday I had a dentist appt. So that took up a lot of the day. I haven’t been knitting, but I’m trying to get back on track with the sweater.

I’m going to see if there are any third party apps for wordpress and blackberry. :]

hooray for new yarn stores

Monday, February 4th, 2008

I found a yarn store on my lunch break today. I needed some new dpn’s for my forecast sweater, as I’ve gotten to the sleeves, and hadn’t realized that you can’t really do sleeves on circulars. At least, not the way I was trying. I thought I had a Dr.’s appt. after work today ( it got rescheduled ), and knew that I wouldn’t have any time to go looking for yarn stores after work. I found a nice place about 7 minutes from my job that has lots of buttons, and whose yarn is sorted by color so that when you look at the wall it looks like a huge rainbow. When I walked in there were three ladies sitting and knitting. We ended up having a very nice conversation, and I spent my entire lunch hour there. I joined their mailing list, and look forward to visiting their stitch-n-bitch next Monday night.

My sweater is coming along. . .I’d love to take pictures but it’s still dark when I come home from work, and daylight really is the best lighting for knitting photos. Maybe I can get one before work.

My banana bread came out so awesome that out of two loaves baked, there’s none left today. :] I myself had three pieces when it was fresh out of the oven yesterday. It was very tasty, and I plan on making some more, possibly tonight.

Work has me a little bit less stressed, but we’ll see how things pan out.  People keep quitting or getting fired, it’s an interesting situation there.

Oh!  And I called T-Mobile today, because I heard about those websites that you’re supposed to pay to list your cell phone contract up for sale, and they all say that they have to contact your provider to make the switch anyway.  So I called and explained what I was trying to find out and lo and behold, you can totally relinquish responsibility for your contract to someone else, so long as they are willing and go through a credit check.  And if they fail the credit check, they just need to pay a deposit.  Hallelujah, I’m getting rid of my Sidekick3.  A friend of mine wants the phone with the contract, and I’m gonna get a blackberry curve.  YAY!

It’s been so long since I wrote a real post. . .

I forgot my password and had to reset it.  :[

This weekend was supposed to be our first do nothing weekend in the house, but it’s ended up being a running errands weekend so far.  And I haven’t yet gotten everything done that I wanted to do.

The good news is, I started working on Forecast again, and I’m almost done with the body!  Well, sort of.  I’m doing the lower border now, then the sleeves, then the button bands.  I don’t know how much I’m going to get done tonight, I didn’t realize it’s already 1:23 in the morning.  :[

Tomorrow Rob’s going to be awesome and work on my car, and we’re going to get library cards, because we didn’t get to today.

I ordered some awesomeness from some Asian store on the internet, and I’m getting good rice, Furikake (rice seasoning), Nori (seaweed wrappers), Lychee nuts in a can (mmmmm), and some other seasonings, and I can’t wait for it to get here!  I want to make foods!!

I’m making banana bread tomorrow.  Oof, I should get back to work on that sweater.
